GuardianCare AI: We bring caring to care.

A New Standard for Compassionate Oversight

GuardianCare AI is the intelligent platform for modern care, designed to support the entire circle of care—individuals, their families, and care providers—in both home and facility settings.

Our AI-powered system works as a silent, respectful partner. With an unwavering commitment to privacy, it analyzes sensory data to provide insights that enhance human connection and ensure well-being. The platform empowers your team to:

  • Identify Critical Events: Instantly detect falls, signs of distress, and other safety concerns, enabling faster, more effective responses.

  • Uphold Quality of Care: Analyze staff-patient interactions to ensure they are compassionate, respectful, and meet the highest standards.

  • Enhance Well-being: Track behavioral and sleep patterns to proactively identify opportunities for improving individual health and happiness.

By empowering care providers with actionable insights and giving families true peace of mind, we help ensure every individual receives the thoughtful, heartfelt care they deserve.

Background

The care of vulnerable populations faces persistent and heartbreaking challenges that affect families, patients, and care facilities.

  • For Families: The anxiety of being away from a loved one is immense. There is a constant fear of unseen emergencies like falls. This fear is justified; according to the CDC, approximately 3 million older adults are treated in emergency departments for fall-related injuries each year. Families also lack visibility into the quality of daily care and interactions.
  • For Patients: Many individuals, particularly those with cognitive or verbal impairments, cannot effectively report neglect, mistreatment, or a simple lack of positive engagement. This can lead to a decline in well-being and a loss of dignity.
  • For Care Facilities: Institutions face significant operational and legal risks without objective tools to monitor care quality. They struggle to identify staff training needs and accurately document events for compliance and billing.

Current solutions, such as passive emergency buttons, are merely reactive and offer no insight into the day-to-day quality of life.

Services

GuardianCare AI addresses this care gap with a sophisticated, three-layered AI system—our proprietary "Pyramid of Intelligence"—that functions as a vigilant, objective, and compassionate digital supervisor.

Layer 1:
The Instantaneous "Lookout"

Physical Safety: A lightweight AI runs 24/7 on a small, secure sensor, analyzing video streams in real time, detecting immediate physical threats like falls in seconds, enabling an instantaneous response. PoC completed.

Layer 2:
The "Investigator"

Interaction Analysis: This layer provides near real-time analysis of caregiver interactions by using advanced speech-to-text transcription and sentiment analysis. It differentiates between positive and negative conversations, offering unprecedented insight into the patient's daily experience.

Layer 3:
The "Expert Consultant"

Deep Contextual Understanding: For critical events, a relevant video clip is sent to an advanced multi-modal AI (like Google's Gemini) that provides a nuanced, human-like written summary perfect for detailed reports for family, doctors, or facility managers.

Privacy Considerations

Given its mission to monitor vulnerable individuals within care settings, the GuardianAI platform operates at the very core of privacy and regulatory compliance. While fundamentally governed by the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), its operation in states like California introduces a more complex and stringent regulatory landscape. In California, GuardianAI's activities are simultaneously governed by the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA), which often provides stricter patient protections than HIPAA, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). The platform’s video feeds, audio streams, and resulting AI analyses are not only considered Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA but also "medical information" under CMIA and "Sensitive Personal Information" under CPRA. This requires GuardianAI to navigate a multi-layered compliance framework. It must implement robust HIPAA-mandated safeguards like end-to-end encryption and strict access controls, while also satisfying CMIA's more explicit authorization requirements for the use and disclosure of patient data. Furthermore, under CPRA, it must provide consumers with expanded rights, including the right to correct their information and, crucially, the right to limit the use and disclosure of their sensitive data. As a "Business Associate," GuardianAI must sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with each healthcare client that accounts for these overlapping state and federal duties. The platform's success and ethical standing are entirely dependent on its rigorous, transparent adherence to this multi-layered regulatory framework, ensuring technology enhances safety without compromising the heightened dignity and legal privacy rights afforded to individuals, especially in California.

Status

We have successfully completed an intensive initial research and development phase, building and validating a working prototype of every core technological component of the GuardianCare AI vision. This process was accelerated through a close, collaborative partnership with Google's Gemini AI, which served as a co-developer for architecture design, coding, and advanced troubleshooting.
